Transpiration

Plants bring water in through the roots.  The water goes into the stem and to the leaves.  The sunlight turns the water in the leaves into water vapor.  The water vapor goes out of the leaves and into the air.  This is called transpiration.

The stomata is a part of a plants leaf.  It is a tiny hole in the plant.  A leaf has stomata.  The water vapor leaves the plant through the stomata.

Plants take in water.  Water helps plants to grow.  Water is in oceans and lakes.  Water can be in the air.  Water is in clouds.  Water helps plants, animals, and people to grow!  Water is very important!

Water can become a gas.  Water can be so small it can be in the air.  This is called water vapor.

The Sun gives off energy.  The energy from the sun makes light.  The energy from the sun helps things to grow.  The energy from the sun is called sunlight.
