Matter can change.

Sand can be made into a sand castle.
Water can freeze into ice.

A rubber band can be stretched.

These are called physical changes.

A physical change is changing the way something looks or feels.

The matter can go back to how it was before the change.

The sand castle can go back to sand.

The ice can melt into water.

The rubber band can go back to its shape.

These are called physical changes.

Matter can change back to how it was before the change!
