We can understand things by using our ears.  We can hear with our ears.  We can hear sounds, voices, and words with our ears.

Sound is made of waves.  A drum makes air vibrate.  Vibrate means to move back and forth.  This makes waves.  These are sound waves.  Our ears are able to hear the sounds!

The ocean and lakes have waves.  Waves are a movement back and forth.  Sound also makes waves.  Sound waves are in the air.

Vibrate means to go back and forth.

Our head has two ears.  Ears help us to hear.  Ears have ear drums which help us to hear.

The ear drum is inside of the ear.  Sound makes air move back and forth.  When the air goes into the ear, it makes the ear drum move back and forth.  This movement goes to the brain and the brain can understand the information as sound. 

Nerves are inside of the body.  Nerves are very long, like wires going from the ends of the body to the brain.  Nerves are sensitive.  Nerves bring information to the brain.

The brain is inside of our body.  The brain is located inside of our head.   Nerves go to the brain.  Nerves bring information to the brain.  The brain helps us to understand the information from the nerves.
