Nutrients are the parts of food that our body can use for energy. When we eat food the food goes into our stomach. Our stomach breaks down the food. It moves into our intestines. Our intestines take out the parts of the food we can use. These are called nutrients.
Some parts of food we cannot use. This is called waste. Waste goes though our body and comes out when we go to the bathroom.
Our bodies take in food and bring in the parts we can use that give us energy. Our bodies get rid of the part we do not need by going to the bathroom. This is called digestion. Digestion is how our bodies bring in energy we can use!
