Things can have energy.  The Sun has energy.  It helps things grow.  When we move we use energy.  Energy helps us to work and move.  Food gives us energy.

The sun gives off energy.  The energy can be seen as light.  The energy can be felt as heat.  The energy we see from the sun is called sunlight.  It lights up the world around us!

We can hold energy in things.  This keeps the energy to be used for later.  A battery stores energy.  Our bodies store energy.  To store means to hold something to be used later.

We can walk, run, jump, and spin.  This is all called movement.  Animals and people move.  When we throw a ball, the ball moves.  This is called movement.

Plants and animals can be used as food.  Pizza, a hamburger, an apple, and cheese are all food.  We eat food and it gives our bodies energy!

The food we eat has parts that give us energy and help our body to grow.  These are called nutrients.  The vitamins and good stuff in food are called nutrients!
