Some animals have fur.  Fur is soft and hairy and covers an animal’s body.

Birds have feathers.  Feathers are soft and light and can be colorful.  Feathers cover parts of a birds body!  A bird’s wings have feathers!

Fish, lizards and insects have scales.  Scales are small, hard pieces that cover an animal’s skin.

Some animals have hair.  People have hair!  Hair is thin and can be long or short and grows from the skin of people and some animals.

Some animals and people have skin.  Skin is a thin layer on the outside of a body.  Skin protects the body!
