How Plants Grow

Most plants start out as a seed.  The seeds becomes a young plant.  The plant becomes an adult plant.  The plant makes new seeds.  The new seeds makes a new plant.  This is called the life cycle.

A seed comes from a plant.  A seed has all the things in it to make a new plant.  A seed goes into the ground and starts to grow.  Water from rain, and nutrients from the soil, help the seed to start to grow.  Seeds can come from fruit!

A seed starts to grow.  It becomes a sprout.  This is called to germinate.  Water from rain and nutrients (food) from the soil help the seed to start to grow.

A sprout is a young plant.  A seed becomes a sprout.

A plant grows roots, a stem and leaves.  It becomes a mature plant.  A mature plant is an adult plant.

Some plants make flowers.  A flower has petals.  A flower can be colorful.  A flower can becomes a fruit.  A flower helps to make new plants.

Some plants make fruit.  Oranges, apples, and lemons are fruit.  Fruit has seeds.  The seeds fall to the ground and make new plants.  Fuit start out as flowers.
