Things can have energy.  The Sun has energy.  It helps things grow.  When we move we use energy.  Energy helps us to work and move.  Food gives us energy.

Some things are ready to move.  A stretched rubber band has energy.  When you let go it will move quickly.  This is called potential energy.  potential energy is when an object has energy ready to go.  The energy is ready because of the way the object is held or set up.  

When we let go of a ball, it drops to the ground.  This is called to fall.

There is a kind of rubber that can be stretched.  It can be cit into a circular band.  A band is something long and thin.  This is called a rubber band.  We can make a rubber can stretch.
