Sediment and Canyons

change

The Earth can change. Some changes happen fast. Other changes take millions of years!

mountain

A mountain is very big. A mountain can form from tectonic plates very slowly pushing together. This can take millions of years!

canyon

Canyons can be formed by a river breaking away the rock over millions of years.

different

Different means something is not the same. An apple is different than a banana.

water

There is water on Earth. Rain, snow, and rivers are all made from water!

Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a huge canyon in the North America. It was made of trillions of years by a river cutting through the rock.

earthquake

Tectonic plates can move. This can cause an earthquake.

erosion

Water can move rock from mountains. This is called erosion.

volcano

A volcano has an opening in the center where hot ash and molten rock can erupt from inside of the Earth to the Earth's surface.

river

A river is made of water. A river can move water from a mountain to an ocean.
