Inside the Earth
The Earth's Core

inner core

The inner core is solid. It is made of metal. It is very, very hot!

outer core

The outer core is made of liquid metal. It is very hot!

mantle

The mantle is made of hot rock. The rock is so hot it flows. It is liquid rock!

crust

The crust is on the outside of the Earth. The crust is made of rock. We live on the Earth's crust.

magma

Magma is hot rock! It flows. It is liquid. Magma is beneath the Earth's surface.

lava

Lava is magma (hot liquid rock) that escapes from inside the Earth through a volcano!

core

The core is in the center of the Earth. The core is made of metal. There is an inner core and outer core.

Earth

The Earth is a planet. The inside of the Earth is made of hot rock and metal.
