Climate

A climate is how weather is over a long time in a place.  Some places have warmer climates.  Some places have cooler climates.  Some places have weather that can change a lot with the seasons.

A tropical climate is very warm.  It can rain a lot in a tropical climate.

A temperate climate is not too hot or too cold.  It might be very hot and cold sometimes.  But the average temperature over the whole year is not too hot or too cold.  Places with seasons are temperate climates.  Sometimes it is hot, sometimes it is cold, and sometimes it is warm or cool!

A polar climate is very cold.  There is a lot of snow in a polar climate.

A dry climate does not get a lot of rain.

A continental climate can be very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter.

Temperature is a measurement of how hot or cold something is. 

Average is the middle of something.  It is halfway between the most and least of something.
